Volvo has just launched their new XC90 luxury 4×4 with a sexy campaign collaborating with Swedish DJ Avicii. Avicii has re-interpreted one of my all time favourite songs Nina Simone’s classic, Feeling Good, into a more modern version. The music video celebrates Volvo’s new beginning, but also celebrates it’s Swedish heritage.
I’ve visited Sweden before, it really is a beautiful country especially in terms of natural beauty. I imagine doing a long roadtrip through the Swedish country side in a Volvo XC90 would be awesome – all those long open roads, expanses of nature and epic panroamas.
For me Volvos have always been about relaible family cars. My friend who is a mom has an older model, and I remember a recent scene in Grahamstown where she crammed 8 people crammed into her Volvo for a short ride down the street as we were rushing to a play at National Arts festival. I ended up sitting in the baby seat. Eek!
Though I haven’t had a chance to drive the neww XC90 yet, I’m excited by the car’s features. The folks at Vovlo have always been serious about safety – Their vision is that no one will be seriously injured or killed in a new Volvo by 2020. That’s a big promise that’s supported by the XC90s innovatives safety features invluding autobraking auto braking and pedestrian and cyclist detection sensors. Pretty damn cool.
