Fresh off my little Tanzania trip and I got the news that I’ve been one of the bloggers chosen to participate on a blogger campaign to Reunion Island Tourism. I’m beyond excited! Reunion has been on my bucketlist for a while now.
Ok, technically I’m going to France, as Reunion is an overseas region of France albeit in the Indian ocean. In case you’re wondering where Reunion is, it’s an Indian ocean island situated between Madagascar and Mauritius.
Why I’m Excited…
Did you know that almost 50% of the island is a UNESCO Heritage Site? Not only is the island is a nature lover’s Eden, but it’s rich in culture and is well known as an adventure destination.
I’ve been reading up on Reunion for a while, and our itinerary looks epic. We’ll meet local personalities, cook with local chefs, experience Creole fine dining and explore the natural environment including a visit to the famous Piton de la Fournaise volcano that erupted last week! Yes really, it’s a live volcano! These pics were taken just a few days ago. I’m not sure we’ll see lava flows, but I really hope we do!
When we’re not exploring volcanos we’ll be staying in a villa, from which we will discover different parts of the island experience local culture, nature and adventure activities. We’ll also hang out with local musicians and artists, and even see some local street art my favourite activity (whoop whoop!!). I don’t want to give too much away, lets just say we’ll be exploring the island from the air, sea and mountains. Check out this video for an idea of what we’re in for…
