Creating an African Travel blogger Community

I’m super inspired  after the Getaway Travel Blog Conference (GTBC) in Cape Town, especially by all the support and positive feedback I have received by the local travel blogging, writing and publishing community. I learnt so much during the conference, I’m still buzzing from the inspiration. After last year’s GTBC I was super motivated.  I was also stoked to have the opportunity to share some of my own learnings as a newbie travel blogger.

Here’s a copy of my presentation Journey to Mzanzi – Sharing the Mzansi Love :

Travel Blogging 101

I’ve also curated the best tweets and pics from the conference in a Storify story –  Travel blogging 101 at #GTBC. If you didn’t make the conference, there’s a load of useful nuggets of travel blogging gold here.

Creating an African travel blogging community

One of the most important things that I came away from GTBC with is the strength and passion of this community. If you’re an aspiring travel blogger/ writer, do join the South African Travel Bloggers Network on Facebook group. Other GTBC presenters have shared their pressos on the group. It really is a fantastic resource for emerging travel bloggers where everyone is willing to help and share expertise. I’m so proud to be part of this community.

There’s an old African proverb that says, ‘If you want to go quickly go alone, if you want to go far go together ‘.

PS. Don’t forget to use the #Afritravel hashtag on your social networks to share the African travel love.

I’ve really enjoyed following along with your blog and travels through Africa this past year. And I so appreciate how willing you are to share your knowledge and experiences with us 🙂 It was through you that I recently discovered and joined the SA travel blogger facebook network and I hope to participate in some Josi blogger meet-ups in the near future 🙂 It’s a blessing to be a part of such an inclusive and supportive group. Thanks so sharing the Africa travel hashtag!

Hi Jenna. Thanks for your kind comments. I am always happy to share knowledge and build this community. The more people to share the #Afritravel love, the more infectious it becomes 🙂 Just shout if you need any advice. I look forward to meeting you soon!
