I loved this Instagram blog post about surf roadtripping through the Cape by my friends at Stoked Surf school in Cape Town. It’s a great example of how to write a visually driven blog post using a smartphone and an app like Instagram. Just goes to show that Instagram can be a fantastic tool for travel and tourism businesses and how easy business blogging can be.
I love how the filters and the images are used to create the sense of a roadtrip, the sunsets, the open road and the spring flowers all recreate the feeling of freedom you get from a surfing roadtrip!
Though I’ve had a few surf lessons, I’m really no surfer. I have, however, lived in a small beach town and been on a few surf missions with my surfer friends. Truth is, I used to be a bit of a surfer groupie back in the day. Now that I live inland, I really miss the freedom, the beauty of the sea, the days of getting up in the dark and hitting the empty road in search of waves. There are few things as spectacular as watching sunrise over sea, whales spraying in the horizon and dolphins surfing waves, as surfers paddle in. Anyway, this post takes me back to those good times…

On our recent learn to surf trip along the Southern Cape, we had fun using our mobile phone to capture some of the special moments of this trip. The images below show that these surf trips are more than just learning to surf…they are about embracing the spirit of adventure, getting off the beaten track and experiencing the highlights of this area from an alternative, local perspective.
Inspired much? Stoked Surf School runs regular Learn-to-Surf Trips from Cape Town. Choose from a 3-day Southern Cape Trip (R 2650) or the 5-day Garden Route trip (R5550). This is a truly experiential trip offering travelers the opportunity to learn how to surf whilst discovering the natural beauty of the Cape. If you are an experienced surfer, the folks at Stoked can tailor a package and itinerary to suit your surfing needs.
