Exciting times for travel bloggers – South African Tourism has launched its historic #MeetSouthAfrica travel bloggers campaign. Following the great example of Cape Town Tourism’s #LoveCapeTown campaign, South African Tourism has decided to bring 15 international bloggers to experience our beautiful land. Check out the video invite above.
The trip will see these bloggers cross Mzansi on four different itineraries traversing every province, giving them the opportunity to tell the stories that South Africa has to offer to potential travellers around the globe. All the tours will lead to Durban, where South African Tourism will host a #MeetSouthAfrica bloggers’ event at which travel trade and tourism products will get the opportunity to listen to these top travel bloggers share their travel experiences ahead of INDABA 2013.
The bloggers campaign, through the iAmbassador programme, the brainchild of Keith Jenkins, sees bloggers functioning as digital ambassadors for the destination. During the blog trip a social media blitz is created, with blog posts written post-trip extending the shelf life of the campaign.
The 15 bloggers selected for the #MeetSouthAfrica campaign through the iAmbassador programme are:
- Keith Jenkins – Velvet Escape
- Melvin Boecher – Traveldudes
- Audrey Scott and Daniel Noll – Uncornered Market
- Matthew Long – LandLopers
- Simon Falvo – Wild About Travel
- Kate McCulley – Adventurous Kate
- Claudia Saleh – Aprendiz de Viajante
- Ale Staut – Tudo al dente
- Diego Pons – Viajando Con Diego
- Ana Pilar – Tripwolf
- Nadine Pober – thenadwork
- Jeremy Kunz – Reisewerk
- Aldana Chiodi – Magia en al Camino
- Elin Reitehaug – Taste of Slow
The bloggers will be using the #MeetSouthAfrica hashtag on Twitter throughout their trip, and will be blogging all their experiences along the way. You can join in the conversation by using #MeetSouthAfrica on Twitter, and let the bloggers know what they should experience and see while in SA.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to join the bloggers on one of the itineraries, but unfortunately couldn’t participate due to work committments 🙁 I will however be joining for the Indaba bloggers event in Durban. I’m super excited to meet the bloggers and share the Mzansi love.
If you’re a travel blogger and are interested in attending the blogger’s event at Indaba, you can register here. Hope to see you there!
