“I had the privilege of spending a day in the humble little suburb of Heideveld in Cape Town. The kids there were amazing and I did little to no directing, all their actions and reactions were natural. ” – Gareth Pon

I love sharing beautiful videos, especially when the showcase the warmth and beauty of  Africa and its peoples. Children of the Heideveld is a beautiful short film by filmmaker Gareth Pon,  who is also one of Joburg’s most prolific and talented Instagrammers.

Heideveld, in Cape Town, is a suburb in Cape Flats created by the Group Areas Act. In spite of living in an area with huge social challenges these children have the most beautiful smiles.

If you’re on Instagram, do follow @GarethPon. I love his use of perspective and interesting textures. The music in the film is by talented South African singer-songwriter Matthew Mole. Matthew Mole’s music can be bought on  iTunes.
